Orang-utan Project [BLD] |

After breakfast you will be briefed by Yayasan Eko Lestari (YEL), an NGO concerned with orang-utan conservation in Sumatra before you start work with other volunteers at Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre. The team of YEL will inform you what you should do in the area.
Activities may range from preparing food stuffs for the semi-wild orang-utans to cleaning the area. Set up jungle camp in the afternoon. O/n in the jungle. |

After breakfast we'll take about 3 hours driving off road by jeep to Tangkahan. Sometimes the track is pretty rough and pushing the vehicle out of muddy potholes is not unknown. Arrival at Tangkahan Lodge is by canoe river crossing. Lunch at Tangkahan. In the afternoon travel by elephant into the jungle spotting wildlife and jungle flora and fauna. Overnight stay at the simple, basic jungle lodge. |

Jungle Trekking and Tubing of Leuser National Park [BLD] |

Dawn gives way to a new day as the sounds of a jungle symphony awakens you.
Here you will experience a life style that is little changed from past generations. Early talk by NGO working in the area on conservation. Today you will trek into the Leuser National Park covers an area 9000 square kilometres heart of the Sumatran rain forests, home to many diverse and exotic species of flora and fauna this is one of the most endangered ecosystem in the world. Following along the edge of a crystal clear mountain stream, take a refreshing swim to break the trek, before tubing down to the lodge. After lunch back to Bahorok and overnight at Pac Eco. |

White Water Rafting (BL) |

Bahorok - Rafting over Wampu river. After breakfast every participant will take a local public car to Mariki, the starting point of your Wampu river rafting experience. This Wampu river rafting trip is a fascinating adventure with many grade 2 rapids.You will raft with local guides. The trip takes about 4 hours down the Wampu river. You will enjoy the beautiful nature, sailing on a wide jungle river in the midst of an unspoiled impressive rainforest. All around you can see and hear the tropical wildlife. Half way we will make a stop at a waterfall where you can take a fresh shower and lunch in the open air. After lunch you will continue the rafting for about 2 hours until you reach the bridge of the Bohorok river. After the trip you return to Medan and overnight stay in a simple hotel due to your morning flight to Padang. |

Early flight to Padang crossing the Equator en route. On arrival in Padang, West Sumatra, will meet a local school where there will be direct interaction with students. Any book donations which can be bought will be welcome as you help encourage the use of books by the students through class visitations and regular story-telling sessions. The objective is to introduce to public school students to using a library, which most do not experience until college, if at all. o/n Padang sea front hotel. |

Today you will meet a non-profit organisation, SANARI, who will brief you about marine life, coral reef conditions and their work with local people rebuilding the depleted fish stocks caused by mangrove deforestation and destructive fishing practices. You will be helping with reforestation, seedlings preparation, community education and other related activities. o/n Family house accommodation in Sungai Pisang, a fishing village. |

Visit Marak Island and meet Island Aid, a NGO who are concerned with saving Sumatra’s gibbon. Transfer mid-afternoon by boat to Sikuai Island Resort. You can walk around this island in about an hour and will see lizards, gibbons, and a variety of birds but otherwise the day is free for your own activities where you can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, fishing or just lying down on the white sandy beach. En suite facilities. |
